THAT burger bar.

Before I went to Amsterdam with Mons last week I had been literally dreaming about this burger for weeks. When I used to live there it was my treat. I was on a shitty wage of £100 a week, so going to this burger bar was a massive delicious unhealthy treat.

The hostel I booked us into is two streets away from this burger bar. Maybe I did that on purpose ;) Nah, our hostel was in the best location !

Now, this burger bar is tiny. It seats 6 people. JUST 6 people, but its so popular. At all times of the day people Que outside into the street for these burgers. There's always a big Que and it takes a while to get to even order your burger.

We were always lucky and managed to nab a bar seat, in the tiny little narrow seated area. If your anything over a size 16, which you would be if you ate here too often, you have no chance of fitting in here.

How to order ? You first choose your meat. starting at 200 gram up to 500 gram, there's different types of meat, like black Angus, Irish beef, etc, chicken.

You then add your toppings, the choice goes like this

Avocado

Bacon
Mushroom
Onions
Blue Cheese
Cheddar
Goats cheese
Jalapeno
Pineapple
Fried egg.

I ALWAYS get, fried onion, bacon, avocado, mushroom and either blue cheese or goats cheese. I'm rather set in my ways and once I like something I will just keep eating it in that combination, its pretty much the same in any burger bar I go to.

As soon as we got into Amsterdam and had checked into our hostel we headed here for a massive burger. Then, throughout the next 3 days, we ate here 4 times :) Hey fatty, time to detox !

As you can see the kitchen is all open plan, your practically sat in the kitchen. In fact, you may as well cook your burger yourself.

Id highly recommend going here if you like burgers !

Just dont go there on a date... or trying to look sexy... or before going out for the night when you look all pretty and your make up is perfect. These burgers are dirty, they are messy, they are big and there's no sink or toilets to clean up in !

Top tip : Get a bar space, rather than a tiny little table. I was so excited to eat my burger the first night we were there I hadn't realized my plate wasn't securely on the table and my plate fell off the table into my lap. Thankfully my coat saved my burger otherwise I would have cried. A LOT.

Don't expect to look lady like in this joint. Do, however, expect to look like a wild animal who has been starved while you dig into this amazing juicy burger. The meat is served pink, your cheese goes all gooey and lovely. Oh dam, I think I best book a flight back out there... ENJOY !

day 5.... my cheat meal out !

On day 5, I had a cheat meal, naughty me, but it was so worth it. I had this reservation for lunch with my friends for a while.

We went to Le Perle a lovely little french restaurant in Milford On Sea where my brother is the chef.

I was pretty good actually, I only had ONE glass of wine ;) And I didnt go for the pork belly.

I had chicken creale for my main which was delicious. It was full of veg and sultanas, and , erm, cream.

Heres my latest two pictures, I have definitely lost weight, though not from my face, it all seems to of gone from my waist / stomach

    day 6

Day 6... Im pretty sure I have missed a few days out... but ssshhh lets forget that !

So day 6, I had a smoothie for breakfast.

A banana, chocolate and peanut butter smoothie. It sounds really naughty, but I followed the recipe from a clean eating instagram account, so according to that its all good. I wont have it every day though, it was pretty sweet.

    Ingredients

    Banana
    spoonful of coco powder
    spoon of honey
half a cup of almond milk
    spoon of peanut butter

    Method

Blend blend blend... and serve ! boom so easy

It was really tasty. I have never really been a peanut butter lover. Except for when I went to America. I got excited about all these different peanut butters they had. No idea why, as I said I have never cared for it before. I bought a jar of crunchy peanut butter and ate it out the jar for days. Hahaha ! Im glad that little addiction didn't stick.

For lunch I had fresh fruit and granola... it was so good, and so filling, I honestly struggled to finish it.

    Ingrediants

    Granola
    Kiwi
    Almond Milk
    Raspberries
    Flaked almonds
    Honey

    Method

There's not much of a 'method' to this, I simply threw it all together.
Just like your usual cereal.. But I will talk you through it step.by.step

    1. Get the granola out of the cupboard
    2. Get a bowl
    3. Open the packet of granola and pour granola in the bowl
    4. Get the almond milk out the fridge and pour over the granola
    5. Get your kiwis. Cut, peel and place in the bowl.
    6. Same for your raspberries, just dont cut or peel. Just chuck them in the bowl
    7. Sprinkle some flaked almonds on top
    8. Get a spoon out the draw
    9. EAT !

This was so filling and kept me full till 7.30 at night.

Dinner was fish. Yummy yummy fish. and a juice.

    Ingrediants for fish dinner

    Cod
    lemon
    broccoli
    avocado

    Method

Peel and slice your avocado and boil your broccoli.

Make a foil parcel for your fish. Place for fish in the middle of a large sheet of foil, squeeze a whole lemon over the fish then leave the lemon in the foil parcel. Fold at the sides so the juice cant run out and twist at the top to seal it. Bake in the over for 20 minutes at 180 c

Enjoy, feel free to share, and leave a comment :)

    Day 2... and 3...what I ate... yum

    Day 2.

Now, I have such a shit memory, I cant remember what I ate 2 bloody days ago. This is why I should blog every day. Im going to have to go through my instagram to remember !

Ah yes, I remember, for breakfast I had a smoothie bowl. Whats that I hear my millions and billions ( Haha) of followers ask ? Its a smoothie. In a bowl. Yes, that's it, a smoothie in a bowl. Kinda.

Since deciding to get healthy I have been googling loads of meals ideas. These smoothie bowls seem to be a big hit. Most probably in the states. Everything seems to be more popular there and they seem to be more on the ball. These smoothie bowls caught my eye first because they are so damn beautiful. At first I didn't care what they tasted like, I just wanted to make one, make pretty food and look at it for hours and hours.

    Ingrediants

    Spinach
    Rasberries
    banana
    almond milk
    kiwi
    almonds
    pecans
    granola
    chia seeds
    coconut shavings

    Method

Blend one cup of almond milk, 1 cup of spinach and one cup on raspberries in the blender till smooth. Cut up your banana and add to the mix and blend again until smooth. I used frozen raspberries and banana but I wont again, when it came to eating my smoothie bowl, it was way too cold on my teeth. So I guess you can make that decision yourself. :) Sensitive teeth and frozen shit is a no no.

So now your smoothie bowl base is made. Put it all into a bowl. A bowl with a big surface space. This gives you more room to decorate and make your smoothie bowl really beautiful, cos obviously, that's the most important thing :)

Slice up your second banana, 2 kiwis. Sprinkle a handful, or more, of granola onto your smoothie bowl, then your shredded coconut, then your kiwi and banana, add your pumpkin seeds and other nuts and what ever you want.

It was yummy, and very pretty :) The granola added a nice crunchy texture which was great, your getting loads of goodness from all the fruit veg and nuts so its an all round good breakfast. It kept me full for 4 hours.

For lunch, I had my leftover prawn salad from the night before and an avocado and banana I had been to the gym but wasn't feeling too hungry. I'm drinking loads of water, which fills me up.

For dinner I had a soupy stew thing, I just made it up... and hoped for the best. It was edible, it wasn't my favorite meal though !

    Ingredients
    Ginger
    garlic
    onion
    lemon grass
    coconut milk
    chicken
    lentils

    Method

I finely chopped the garlic ginger and onion. Remember what I said the other day, if you add salt to the garlic, it chops much finer, and makes an almost paste like substance.

I bashed the lemon grass hard with the end of my knife. Real hard. On my hand. Ouch. Cooking is dangerous, be careful, folks. By bashing it up, or bruising it as some people say, you release the flavor.

I cut my chicken into chunks and browned it off in the pain with the onions. Then the ginger and garlic and lemon grass. Once they were all cooked I added the coconut milk and left it to simmer for half an hour. I then added 1.5 cups of spit orange lentils and left for a further 20 minutes. Right at the end I added spinach and stirred for 2 minutes so to cook the spinach and served. It was yummy. I used to much ginger though. I got slightly excited with it being a natural pain relief.

    *******************************************************

    Day 3

    Breakfast

For breakfast on day 3 I had a cooked breakfast.

    Ingrediants

    4 rashers of bacon
    3 eggs
    half a punnet of mushrooms
    1 avocado
    pumpkin seeds

    Method

Now cooking a breakfast is pretty simple. Im sure you don't really need me to tell you how, but here goes. I grilled the bacon and mushrooms until crispy. I like crispy. Crispy is good. I fried the eggs in a tiny bit of coconut oil. The avocado was simply sliced up. All served up with a sprinkle of salt and pepper and a hand full of pumpkin seeds. Ta daa. A monkey could do it. Blindfolded. With one arm, and no legs.

For lunch I had chicken, sweet potato, carrot and brocoli

    Ingrediants

    1 sweet potato
    Brocolli
    carrots
    chicken
    garlic
    chilli's
    lemon
    chicken stock

    Method

Firstly, I put the sweet potato on a baking tray in the oven at 200 c, they take ages to cook. I then diced up the chicken and got very messy marinading it in chilli paste with chopped up garlic. I browned the chicken off in the pan then put it in an oven proof dish. I chopped up a a whole lemon and squeezed the juice into the dish then put the rest of the lemon in the dish.

I made 1 pint of chicken stock and added it to the chicken in the dish before putting it in the oven.

I then par boiled the carrots for 10 minutes before adding them to the chicken to roast.

I left it to roast for about 40 minutes before serving. It was lovely and spicy. Full of flavor with the spice and lemon. The sweet potato was delicious. I have never really had sweet potato before so now its my new love.

Oh lets not forget the broccoli. Boiled. Served ;) Drained in between. One armed deaf monkey...etc.

    Dinner :
    Garlic rosemary chicken

For this I used 3 chicken breasts as I knew I would be eating it over 2 days. You can judge yourself how many chicken breasts to cook.

    Ingrediants
    Chicken
Rosemary - Dont buy it, just pick it from someone garden !
    Garlic
    Lemons
    Onion
    Chicken stock
    Butter nut squash

    Method

I finely chopped 3 cloves of garlic. I love garlic.
I then picked all the rosemary off the tree I had picked up early and bruised it slightly, with the end of my knife. watch your hands. be careful. I wasn't yesterday.
I finely chopped my onion and I was ready to go.

    I left my breasts whole.
I sealed them in the pan with loads of rosemary, a little bit of coconut oil, the garlic and onion. Once sealed I put them in an oven proof dish, with 2 pints of chicken stock. I cut up my lemons and chucked them in the dish.

I left in the oven for an hour at 180c

When I served it, i used a fine sieve to sieve away all the onion garlic and rosemary and was left with a lovely thin juicy juice.

My chicken was so tender due to being cooked in the stock.

    ENJOY !

    what I ate sunday

Sunday 1st February marked the 1st day of me getting super healthy and fit.

I woke up in pain !

    Typical.

I really didn't want to take painkillers so I started my day off with a hot ginger and lemon tea.

Its so simple. I just cut chunks of ginger, slices of lemon and poured boiling hot water over it. As you would with any tea. Ginger is a natural pain relief so I used that to rid my pain and rubbed tiger balm into my aching body. It worked a bit.

For breakfast I had the rest of my grilled pineapple and mint from the night before, then I had grilled bacon, avocado, roasted butternut squash and fried egg.

    Ingredients :

4 slices of bacon - smoked or unsmoked

    1 ripe avocado
    3 eggs
    1 butter nut squash

    Method :

    Grill the bacon.

Peel the butter nut squash and cut it into 1 inch sized chunks. Sprinkle it with mixed herbs and a little bit of garlic and roast for half an hour in the oven at 200c. I did mine the night before, to save time and be prepared and then just heated it up in the morning for breakfast.

Fry 3 eggs in a pan. I used fry lite, so no oil. You can use coconut oil too.

My avocado I simple just peeled and sliced.

Everything went on the plate with a load of black pepper. I do like black pepper.

Its the first time I have ever had a breakfast like this so I will admit it was slightly weird to eat avocado and butter nut squash for breakfast, but it did fill me up for hours and tasted so good.

Now I say it was breakfast, it was actually lunch. I was working a late shift so didn't want to eat too early. I ate this at 1pm.

Dinner I had at work. I had prawn salad

    Ingrediants

    Prawns

    avocado
    oranges
    apple
    spinach
    lemon
    pumpkin seeds

    Method

Wash the spinach and prawns and put them onto your plate or salad bowl. No need to cut or rip the spinach.

Peel and chop the oranges. take all the pips out and the white pith. Add them to your salad.

Peel and slice the avocado, place them on the side of the plate.

Wash and finely chop your apple. No need to peel it. Add it to the salad.

Sprinkle a handful of pumpkin seeds over the salad.

Use your (clean!) hands to mix the salad together then squeeze the juice from half a lemon , add salt and pepper and enjoy.

I didn't eat my salad till 7pm. I wasn't hungry at all after my big breakfast. I wasn't really hungry at all. I only ate it because I knew it was dinner time and everyone else was eating ! It was very yummy and very pretty. I couldn't finish it all.

I have saved it, and will it it today for lunch (Monday)

I drank a lot of water. This is new for me, I never used to drink water. I added fresh sliced lemon and fresh mint.

    Enjoy your healthy food !

    Lemon and Ginger tea

I have been using ginger for 3 weeks now in juices and cooking and have been in a lot less pain. Today I woke up in loads of pain though. Everything has seized up. My back feels like its been kicked in. My arms are heavy. My legs are stiff and really hurt. It sucks.

Ginger is a natural pain relief and anti inflammatory. Paracetamol doesn't touch my pain and neither does codeine and I don't really want to be on super strong pain relief. I need to live. I need to work. I cant be a zombie.

This morning I am having ginger and lemon hot tea, with a twinning's lemon tea bag. I just chopped up the ginger into chunks and slices the lemon, squeezed the lemon juice out then poured hot water over it. Its super healthy, and delicious.

    I'm

no expert but the ginger speeds up your weight loss and usually helps with pain, lemon is a natural detoxer and hot water is supposed to be good for you right ?

Try including ginger in your diet if your in pain.

So not to waste the ginger and lemon you can make a few drinks out of it, just use more hot water and pour again. Simple :)
