Leaving home for the very first time 18th october 2010

The hardest part of going travelling is definitely saying goodbye. Really, what on the rest of this trip  can be harder than saying goodbye to your family for 8 months? Surely Im just going to be partying, exploring pretty beaches and doing cultural things ?
After saying goodbye, the hanging around at the airport seemed like forever. I bought a book and had some humous and pitter bread. No surprise there, I live off that stuff. I had managed to stop crying when I received a text from mum, somewhere a long the lines of to look in my hand bag. I peered in and found a card, she had bouught me a mudeford beach hut card and written some sad things inside. I started crying again !
Eventually my time came to get on the plane, it was massive. I fell asleep straight away, i was shatterd. I slept for about 6 hours, ate some food then went back to sleep, so it was a good flight ! The only thing wrong with sleeping on planes, is whatever way you sleep, you always wake up with cramp in your neck ! Or you fall asleep on your hands and wake up with swollen hands with pins and needles… Not fun. Another thing thats not good is when the gay thai male air stuart offers you spanish omelette or English breakfast, you say english breakfast and he gives you the god dam Spanish omelette !
So i arrive in singapore airport. Its got to be the cleanest place I have EVER been. and the biggest airport. It seemed like i was walking for miles. I needed the toilet, when i found the toilet, they were all those whole in the floor ones, apart from one which was atiny childs seat… so i used the tiny childs seat.
Singapore airport is meant to be really easy. well its not, i asked people for directions and everyone sent me in different directions.

I find the shuttle bus in the end and get on, the dude drops me at my hostel and tells me to climb the 3 flights of stirs. Yeah right, with my heavy bag. So i phone the number I have. It doesn’t work. So i just stand at the bottom of the stairs feeling like im gonna cry not sure what to do. Then i hear some  girl asking if she can help. So the poor girl carries my bag up, I felt a bit guilty really !
I get into rucksack inn, take off my shoes, cos you have tom get a glass of water from the girl and she gives me a little tour. Everyones nice. Then i check into facebook. Theres this english dude behind me asking the girl where to go, so i talk to him and we head out together.

We head in the direction of china town, it takes a while to find. But when we do find it were pretty amazed. Its so Chinese ! and so cool. We look around for some good stalls to eat at, most of the ones were looking at are offering boiled pigs brains etc, so we carry on looking until we find a good one. We find one, and I have chicken and noodles nick has duck and I also have a coconut. This cost us a stupid two dollars each, and it was such good food !
From here we head into the heart of china town. It was such fun, clothes were so cheap and so nice. Think i may have to buy a cheeky dress tomo! We wander round here for a while, then get the tube to Clarke quay and walk back towards our hostel to the bars we saw earlier.

Once at qlarke quay we look around the bars. It suddenly dawns on us we are staying in the red light district. Outside every bar, there are young girls wearing barely any clothes! We thought we’d be safe going in the bars with no girls outside, but no they were just dancing inside ! In the end we settled on one bar and had a pint… for $10 !! we watched some girls dance then headed onto a rock bar, had another pint and headed home !
